First impressions: Birmingham, Alabama
Well, everything was going fine. We were getting along sweetly, Birmingham and me. But then I saw a monument to Confederate soldiers and remembered all of that business. I'm not writing this place off, of course. After all, that monument was erected 102 years ago. Times change, right?

How many McCain/Palin signs are there?
"All of that business": Possibly the best description I've ever heard of war.
Now, go walk around the town with your elite washington liberal ideals, touting homosexual love and universal healthcare, and quash them dirty rednecks.
I'm guessing there's graffiti all over the monument.
Your trek bypasses Atlanta, the crown jewel of the Confederate experience. Stone Mountain park
(Google images gives the true picture) and the museum of the Confederacy. Makes those Alabama boys look like loafers. Hope you have picked up some plantation-ware for your flat.
